Sri Lanka made history by participating for the first time in the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, happened in Hong Kong from 30 November to 4 December.
A five-member team on behalf of Sri Lanka competed in the prestigious event. The team includes athletes from the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy, Victory Taekwondo Club, and K-Lion’s Taekwondo Academy.
Two promising young athletes from K-Lion’s Taekwondo Academy are part of the historic team:
- Senori Fernando will be competing in the Under-30 female category
- Ashen Rajapaksha will be representing Sri Lanka in the junior male category
Master Upul Fernando, the enthusiastic coach of K-Lion’s Taekwondo Academy, has been instrumental in guiding these young athletes to the global stage.
