The top flight games of the A-Division in the 32nd Mercantile Services Basketball Association (MSBA) League saw its most powerful week of clashes in recent times. Seylan Bank (Women’s) and Fair first Insurance (Men’s) have protected their spot in the finals whilst Commercial Credit are in both the finals to be worked off tomorrow (6) at the Royal Indoor Complex from 6 p.m. onwards.

Commercial Credit edged out Seylan Bank by a whisker win in a low-scoring game packed with ultimate strength and excitement.

Commercial Credit tasted yet another absolute exciting win when they pipped HNB by the tiniest of margins just like they beat Seylan.
After the game, Former Head – 3×3 Development at Sri Lanka Basketball Federation and a livewire of MSBA Mafaz Mohideen noted that clutch buckets by Malmi Hettiarchchi and Lubna Morseth in the final moments, along with a decisive free throw from Imesha Thathsarani, secured victory and a place in the finals for Commercial Credit.
Anjalee Ekanayake (HNB) top scored with 15 points.

As a final point, the stage was set for an epic battle, a classic competition in the Mercantile arena with Seylan taking on banking rivals HNB. Both these teams have been two of the most effective Women’s teams in the league throughout the course of history.
Seylan came out all guns blazing to secure a thumping win in a grand performance.
Epciba Washington top scored for Seylan with 23 and Anjalee Ekanayake (HNB) scored 14.

Commercial Credit came back strong to tired out Akbar Brothers in an intense showdown.

To wrap the week, Fairfirst Insurance claimed win in a powerful extra-time thriller against Akbar Brothers. Dasun Mendis (Akbar) top scored with 33 and Nimesh Fernando (Fairfirst) scored 31.
