Sri Lanka Air Force Corporal Dulith Dasanayake brought great honor to Sri Lanka at the World Strength Lifting Championship. Competing in the Under-95kg Hack Lift event at the tournament held in Kyrgyzstan, he achieved the remarkable feat of winning the gold medal while setting a new world record.
He lifted a weight of 260kg. Winning a gold medal alongside a world record in such a challenging international competition marks a significant milestone in the history of Sri Lankan sports.
A special ceremony was organized on the 23rd at the Sri Lanka Air Force Base in Hingurakgoda to honor this outstanding achievement. Members of the Air Force Weightlifting Club and others attended this event, which was held under the patronage of Air Commodore Sanoj Jayarathna, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Air Force Weightlifting Squad.
