Police have announced that musical instruments, helmets, jackets, glass bottles, large travel bags, alcoholic beverages, knives, sharp objects, drones and electronic devices are prohibited from being brought into the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo for the India-Pakistan Twenty20 Cricket World Cup match today.

Strict security measures will be in place at all entry points and every spectator will be subject to body checks and monitored via CCTV.

The stadium is expected to be full to capacity for the match, which is scheduled to start at 7:00 pm local time.

Over 2,000 officers, including 1,500 regular police officers and 600 traffic police officers, will be deployed in and around the stadium.

In addition to the uniformed officers, plainclothes police and intelligence officers will also be monitoring the crowd to prevent any incidents.

Addressing a special press conference, Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wutler said that these activities are being implemented under the direct supervision of the Inspector General of Police to ensure public safety and smooth traffic movement.

There are no regular parking facilities near the stadium and instead, park-and-ride shuttle services will be operated from the old MOD car park and Port City car park.

Police also announced temporary road closures and restricted access to several roads around the stadium to prioritize pedestrian safety.

These include Wilson Perera Mawatha (Grandpass Road), parts of Babapulle Mawatha and Maligawatte Road.

Motorists have been advised to use alternative routes and follow traffic instructions issued by officers on duty.

He warned that any violation of these regulations will be dealt with strictly according to the law.
