The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Minister of Highways, Transport and Urban Development Bimal Ratnayake, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage, Deputy Minister of Sports Sugath Thilakaratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Aruna Bandara, Director General of the Department of Sports Development S. Achchuthan, officials of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and Lake House Institute Chairman Gamini Varshamana, and Lake House Institute Editorial Director Sisira Yapa.
The Lanka Ride cycle ride will travel to Kandy on the first day, and its second day will start from Kandy and travel to Anuradhapura. It will return to Colombo from Anuradhapura on the 18th.
Minister of Highways, Transport and Urban Development Bimal Ratnayake, who participated in the inaugural ceremony of the cycling event, said that Lanka Ride will add new energy to the race that runs the country. The Lanka Ride cycling event will add symbolic value at a time when the country is developing and moving in a new direction.
Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage said on this occasion that the Lanka Ride cycling event will be held as an inaugural program of a year planned to create a new sports culture.
27 teams of cyclists are participating in this cycling event. After they registered, the cycling competition began.
