Sri Lanka Army Officer 2 Palitha Bandara, who won a silver medal in the discus throw event at the 2026 Commonwealth Athletics Games, and his coach, Bombardier Prabath Danushka Perera, met with the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne, on 20 August 2026.
On this occasion, the Commander of the Army presented special mementos and financial awards to Officer 2 Palitha Bandara for his excellent sporting achievements and the coach who guided him to achieve that feat.
