The 93rd Ritzbury Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletic Championship 2025 started today (08) at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium, Diyagama, with the Under-20 Girls’ 5000m final as one of the opening events. The Sri Lanka Schools Athletic Association (SLSAA) has arranged 15 finals for the first day.
Lead with the sponsorship of Ritzbury, the four-day meet will run until September 11. The SLSAA indicated that nearly 3,000 school athletes are expected to take part in the championship, which will be held under three age categories: Under-16, Under-18, and Under-20 boys and girls.
Originally planned for August 21–24, the meet was postponed due to the Ministry of Education conducting the National Schools Provincial Games in August.
In the meantime, the Ritzbury Sri Lanka Schools Relay Championships and the Sir John Tarbat Junior Provincial Meets have already been concluded.
At last year’s 92nd edition, St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa, and Lyceum International School, Wattala, clinched the Boys’ and Girls’ Overall Championships, respectively, while 20 new meet records, as well as two Sri Lanka youth records, were established.
