S. Thudiharshidan of Hindu national college in Matale clocked 15 m 53.83sec to appear as the winner in the 5000 m event for boys under 20 and bagged the Gold medal at the National schools games 2024 finished recently at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.
He has the difference of claiming a tally of four gold medals this year, as he finished first in the under 20 boys 5000 m event at the 92nd John Tarbet Senior Athletic Championships 2024 and also at the Junior National Athletic Meet 2024 held in Colombo.
He also won the All Island School Games 2024 – 5 km marathon worked off in Dambulla.
In the meantime, his schoolmate D Shamraj finished third in the boys 5000 m race walking to claim the Bronze medal for his school.
S. Thudiharshidan has been selected to represent the Sri Lanka team at the forthcoming South Asia Cross Country Championships 2024 to be held in Islamabad Pakistan in November. Both athletes were trained by Mahesh Preethiwardane.
