Police Scotland have confirmed that athletes from several countries participating in the Commonwealth Games have gone missing after failing to return with their teams after the tournament.
Four Ugandan boxers and a Pakistani boxer, Qudratullah, are among the missing, according to media reports.
According to Ugandan media reports, the four boxers are Nuhu Batte, Angel Katushabe, Ibrahim Kemis and Emily Nkalema.
Pakistani boxer Qudratullah also did not board the plane with the team.
A missing Ugandan athlete has told NBS Sport that he intends to seek political asylum in Scotland in the hope of better training facilities and a better future.
Several athletes, including two Ugandan rugby players, went missing at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, and Cameroonian weightlifter Cyril Chatchet also sought political asylum and won a silver medal at the 2026 Games.
Police Scotland and the British Home Office have launched a special investigation into the missing athletes.
The 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, which were held in a shortened format after the Australian state of Victoria withdrew, concluded successfully on Sunday.
