The website was officially launched by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, while the Mobile App was launched by sprinter Yupun Abeykoon and weightlifter Dissanayake.
SLADA is the primary body dedicated to eradicating doping in sports within Sri Lanka. By implementing the World Anti-Doping Code (WADA Code), SLADA conducts tests at national, international, and school levels, raises awareness through workshops, manages Therapeutic Use Exemptions (TUEs), enforces regulations, and researches doping trends.
The slada.lk website provides a wide range of information, including prohibited substances, the doping control process, TUE procedures, and reporting of rule violations. It also features educational modules, downloadable forms, the latest WADA updates, and guidance for Sri Lankan athletes and coaches, aiming to enhance anti-doping awareness island-wide.
The SLADA Mobile App allows athletes and support staff to instantly check if their medications are on the WADA Prohibited List. This tool helps prevent unintentional doping violations by allowing users to search by route of administration, classification of the drug, and its legal status during and out of competition seasons.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage emphasized that educating society, athletes, and school children on anti-doping is essential. He stated that this mobile app simplifies that process and expressed intentions to integrate anti-doping education into the school curriculum in the future. He further urged athletes to remain clean and avoid the use of prohibited substances.
