Taking another giant step towards establishing Sri Lanka as a global sports tourism destination, a special international rugby match between the powerful Asia Pacific Rugby Lions team and the Northampton Saints team of England was held at the Colombo Racecourse Ground recently.
In this highly competitive match, the Northampton Saints team managed to record a victory by 59 – 42 points.
At the end of the first half of the match, the Northampton Saints team took the lead by 26 – 21 points, and a strong match was fought between both teams in the second half.
The event was attended by many international and local dignitaries, including the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage, the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, and the President of the Asian Rugby Union, Qais Abdullah Al Dhalai.
