
Sri Lanka led by Kavindu Perera, ended fourth in the 2025 Asia Rugby Men’s Sevens Series – China leg after a 17-22 overthrow to hosts China in the third place playoff game in Hangzhou, on Sunday (21).
China led 17-05 at half time but Dinal Ekanayake scored back-to-back tries to level the marks in the second half.
On the other hand, China managed to take the game after scoring a try in the dying stages of the encounter.
Prior in the morning, Sri Lanka lost to Hong Kong 33-00 in the semi-final of the Cup segment.
Although Sri Lanka lost to Japan 38-07 in the opening group game of the tournament on Saturday (20), the Tuskers claimed a 24-07 win against Thailand and a 34-07 victory against Singapore, to qualify for the Cup semi-final.
In the meantime, Sri Lanka finished ninth in the women’s segment of the tournament.
