A strong Sri Lankan squad consisting of 12 players has been named for the ‘Howard Hinton’ Sevens Rugby Tournament in France. The main objective is to gain international experience against leading European teams.
Many of the best clubs and guest teams from the European region, including France, are scheduled to join the tournament. The Sri Lankan team is expected to use the tournament as a preparation for the upcoming Asian Sevens Rugby Tournament and the Asian Games to be held in Japan.
This time, the Sri Lankan team is led by experienced player Srinath Suriyabandara, while Janindu Dilshan will serve as the vice-captain.
The squad, which is a mix of young and senior players, includes Chathura Vidanalage, Akash Madhusankha, Kavindu de Costa, Kavindu Perera and Ramitha Himash in key roles. In addition, Ravindu Anjula, Suranga Tennakoon, Diluksha Dange, Gayan Perera and Chemod Muthunayake have also been called up to add strength and pace to the team.
