Sport is not just about winning or losing, it is also about what kind of civilization we show the world off the field. The Japanese people have once again shown the world a great example of that.
The World Cup final match with the Netherlands ended in a 2-2 draw after a close battle. Normally, when a match ends, the fans would finish their shouting and celebrating and quickly leave the stadium. However, the way Japanese football fans behaved there has once again brought the attention and respect of the whole world to them. This is a testament to the unwavering discipline that exists within their culture.
As the whistle blew on the field and everyone left their empty bottles, papers and various waste near the seats, the Japanese fans stopped where they were. They gathered together and neatly collected every piece of garbage and plastic bottle left by themselves and those around them and cleaned the entire stadium. The special thing is that they did this not to be seen by any cameras or to put on a show for the world. It was because of the noble habit that came from their hearts, which considered it their duty and responsibility to keep the place they were standing in clean.
