A rare record has been made in the annals of Wesley College rugby, resulting the elevation of Sadul Gammanpila to the captaincy of its first XV rugby team for the 2025 inter-school rugby season.
Fourth-year coloursman Sadul Gammanpila, who plays at number eight, is the second son of ex-Wesley rugby skipper Asanka Gammanpila, who had captained the Campbell Park-based school in 1998.
Therefore, with Sadul being given the captain’s armband ahead of the forthcoming rugby season, they turn out to be Wesley’s first father-son duo to have skippered their first XV rugby team.
