The Jaffna Bulls are the inaugural champions of the Jetour Next XV Rugby League, securing a hard-fought 30–24 victory over the Galle Lions!
The final, which took place on October 10, 2026, at the CR & FC Grounds in Colombo, certainly lived up to the hype:
- First Half Edge: Even though the Galle Lions drew first blood, the Jaffna Bulls controlled much of the early momentum to head into the break leading 17–12.
- Second Half Drama: The Bulls struck immediately after the restart, but the Lions roared back into contention with two tries. However, a costly missed conversion kept the Lions just behind.
- The Clincher: Keeping their composure in the 68th minute, the Bulls slotted a crucial penalty to extend their lead to six points and held firm until the final whistle.
Jointly captained by Shan Althaf (Trinity College) and Shenuka Perera (St. Peter’s College) under coach Lasintha de Costa, the Jaffna Bulls successfully avenged their 22–17 league-stage loss to Galle to etch their names in the tournament’s history books.
