Dharmaraja College, Kandy has officially emerged as the overall champions at the All Island Inter-School Boxing Championship 2026. This historic victory marks the very first time in the college’s history that the Rajans boxers have secured the top national-level title.
Guided by head coach Sumal Batawala and Master-in-Charge Rukman Wekadapola, the team’s historic 2026 title follows a steady multi-year rise in the national arena:
- 2026 National Success: They captured the top spot overall at the All Island Inter-School Boxing Championship, dominating the tournament to bring home the coveted title.
- 2026 U-19 Novices: Earlier in September 2026, the men’s Under-19 team finished as the 2nd Place/1st Runners-up at the Dr. Anuruddha Shanaka Bandara Challenge Trophy (Novices Championship) held in Pilimathalawa, claiming 2 Golds and 1 Bronze.
- 2026 Youth Level: The Under-19 team also finished as the Overall Runners-Up at the All Island Youth Boxing Championship organized by the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka (BASL), securing 2 Golds, 2 Silvers, and 1 Bronze.
- 2025 Foundation: This major milestone builds directly on their performance in late 2025, where they ended as the overall U-18 boys’ champions at the All Island National School Games.
This landmark 2026 championship firmly establishes Dharmaraja College as a premier powerhouse in Sri Lankan school boxing.
