West Indies Cricket Board has announced that it will take steps to limit social media accounts that engage in cyberbullying, harassment or personal abuse from interacting with its digital platforms.
The board is urging cricket fans to maintain a respectful online relationship.
While healthy debate is welcome, mutual respect must be at the heart of all interactions, the board said in a statement calling for respectful online conduct.
The board has warned that abusive behaviour towards players and their families has no place in West Indies cricket.
West Indies Cricket Board noted that online comments can have a real and lasting impact, especially on young people.
“Accounts that engage in or engage in abusive behavior will be restricted from interacting with our pages with immediate effect,” the statement said.
