South African duo Tabraiz Shamsi and Anrich Nortje have been named as substitutes by St Kitts & Nevis Patriots (SKNP) for Sri Lanka’s Nuwan Thushara and Wanindu Hasaranga of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024. Both Hasaranga and Thushara suffered injuries during the recently concluded white-ball series against India.
Even though Thushara was out of the entire tour due to a finger injury, Hasaranga, on the other hand, played three T20 Internationals (T20I) and one One-Day International (ODI) before being ruled out of the remaining matches due to a constrain injury.
Nortje is yet to make his entrance in the CPL, but that is not the case for his international co-player Shamsi, who has played 32 games in the tournament, including 27 for the Patriots. He has taken 27 wickets for SKNP at an economy rate of 7.06. Nortje and Shamsi will not be the only South Africans in the Patriots, who have even now signed Tristan Stubbs.
CPL 2024 will start on August 29 (August 30 in India). SKNP will play the tournament starter against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
