The opportunity to award certificates to those who completed the online course on sports nutrition, which was conducted in collaboration with the Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, the Institute of Sports Medicine and sports associations and targeted 140 athletes and coaches, was held yesterday (28) at the Duncan White Auditorium of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the patronage of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage.

The Minister said that athletes in this country have many problems regarding their nutritional status, and the main problem heard from athletes in Galle Akmeemana and Jaffna was the tragic news that they were inconvenienced due to the lack of food for their nutrition.

The Minister further stated that in order to bring sports to a developed stage in Sri Lanka, it is very important to implement such programs that educate about nutrition, and that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will ensure that the nutrition of athletes is investigated and appropriate measures are taken in the future to the best of its ability.
