St. Peter’s College won the Boys’ title for the fourth successive year at the All Island School Games Swimming Championship, organised by the Ministry of Education, finished at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool Complex yesterday.

The Peterite swimming team, headed by captain Umar Farook and vice captains Ean Jake and Kaveesha Perera, amassed a total of 83 points, earning nine gold medals, six silver medals, and seven bronze medals.

The Bambalapitiya School made history by becoming the only school to achieve four successive victories in this All Island swimming competition. The team has before won titles in the Colombo District and Western Province, now adding the All Island Championship to their achievements, as recognized by the Ministry of Education.

The Peterite swimming team was supported by teachers in charge, Mrs. Ajanie Savindinie and Mrs. Marlin Ronali Ho, along with coaches Shehaan Dias, Santhusha Mallawathanthri, Shaan Dias, and Suganthan Kanagasundaram, who contributed to their success.

Ananda College completed as the runners-up with 67 points, while Trinity College secured third place with 58.5 points. Notably, St. Joseph’s College Colombo placed fourth with 58 points, and Lyceum International School Wattala rounded out the top five boys’ teams with 37 points.

In the girls’ division, Lyceum International School Wattala appeared as the overall champion with 72 points. Ladies’ College claimed the runners-up trophy with 63 points, while Musaeus College took third place with 58 points. Lyceum International School Gampaha and Mahamaya College Kandy finished fourth and fifth, with 44 and 40 points, respectively. Visakha Vidyalaya and Holy Family Convent Bambalapitiya secured sixth and seventh places, respectively.

All over the three-day competition, a total of 26 new meet records were set, with 1,200 swimmers representing nine provinces across Sri Lanka.
