Sri Lanka’s Lifesavers settled the title of Overall ‘B’ Final Inter-Club Champion but also arose as the Asian Champion in the Inter-Club Line Throw category at the on-going Lifesaving World Championships continued in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia yesterday.

In the Men’s Line Throw Competition, Nimuthu Perera and Senal Pathirathna from Ananda College secured first place in the ‘B’ final and finished eighth overall.

On the women’s side, Sinali Rajapaksa and Thenushi Kalawitigoda from Musaeus College led the Sri Lankan team to first place in the ‘B’ final with a time of 12.70 seconds, marking the second-best timing overall in both the Open National and Inter-Club Competitions.

Formerly, Sri Lankan Lifesaving Captain Dilanka Shehan made headlines by becoming the 17th fastest swimmer in the world and the second fastest in Asia in the Surf Race event, strengthening his status as the Champion Surf Swimmer in South Asia.
