
A discussion between Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage was held at the Shangri-La Hotel premises yesterday (03). Deputy Minister of Sports Sugath Tillakaratne also participated in the event.
Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Khalifa said that while many Asian countries are facing economic problems and corruption, Sri Lanka is moving forward as a country with the measures taken by the current government.
Accordingly, he stated that he is confident that the sport will also reach a better level.
He stated that steps will be taken to provide the country with an international football stadium with modern facilities in conjunction with the Sports Ministry for the advancement of football. The necessary future plans for this were also discussed.
