Sri Lanka won five medals, including two golds and a silver, at the 14th Taipei City Cup Youth Boxing Tournament 2024 in Chinese Taipei.

Dilshan Heenkenda of Vidyartha College, Kandy and Thenuwan  Meegalla of Royal College were the gold medallists while team captain  Aazil Murajudeen of Zahira College, College had to be content with a  silver medal. Hirushan Wijesinghe of Vidyartha College, Kandy and  Mavindu Nimsara of President’s College, Veyangoda secured bronze medals  after losing in the semi-finals.

Ravindu Dharmathilaka of Gankanda Central College, Pelmadulla lost in the preliminary round.

Malaysia, Philippines and Sri Lanka were the foreign participants in this annual competition held by the Taipei City Boxing Association.

Heenkenda fighting in the 51-54kg weight won the first gold medal when he won a split 3:2 decisions against a tough Philippine boxer.
