Sri Lanka came up with a super show in contradiction of regional powerhouse India before going down fighting in the finals of the Under-18 FIBA Asia Cup finals worked off at Sugathadasa Stadium on Saturday.
The scores were levelled at 43 each at the end of the first half as Sri Lanka tested India all over the game. However, the hosts did not have the bench strong point to take it all the way as India broke the shackles in the second half to secure a 15 point win.
The final scores were 87-62.
The third quarter showed to be crucial as it was here India turned the tables scoring 20 points while Sri Lanka managed only seven points.
Sri Lanka tired out Maldives and Bangladesh in the tournament to qualify for the finals while India was unbeaten throughout the competition.
Sri Lanka was able to unearth several young talents in this competition.
