Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) will declare open several ground-breaking facilities at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium on February 5 (tomorrow) with the participation of Honorable Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest.
The President will declare open the new facilities following an invitation made by the President of the SLC, Mr. Shammi Silva, and the Executive Committee, while the Honorable Harin Fernando, the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Lands, and Tourism, will also be present at the ceremony.
The new facilities, such as the opening of the country’s first state-of the art LED-lightdriven sports stadium and the world-class swimming pool, hydrotherapy, and injury rehabilitation unit, are going to strengthen the Center of Excellence of Dambulla, thus strengthening the development of cricket within the North Central, Northern, and North Western provinces.
All teams at the district, provincial, and super-provincial levels ranging from U13, U15, U17, U19 Men’s and Women, U23 Women’s, and the National Super League Team of Dambulla will benefit immensely from these facilities to improve and enhance their standards and move forward.
Work towards building more facilities to commence President Ranil Wickremesinghe will also lay the foundation stone to build an indoor net and practice facility, a new media center, and the redevelopment of the grand stand.
The two Vice Presidents of Sri Lanka Cricket, Dr. Jayantha Dharmadasa and Mr. Ravin Wickramaratne, Acting Secretary Mr. Chryshantha Kapuwatte, and Treasurer Mr. Sujeeva Godaliyadda, along with other ex-co-members and Mr. Ashley De Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, will be in attendance at this momentous moment.
