The Inter-Regiment Athletics Championship of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) commenced on 26 August 2024 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama and successfully concluded on 28 August 2024. Over 300 athletes from 21 Battalions competed in various track and field events, aiming to enhance sports skills in the Volunteer Force.

The SLAVF, renowned for producing numerous national and international-level players, including Olympic medalists, played a significant role in this tournament. The competition was conducted under the supervision of the Sri Lanka Athletics Association.

Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara, Commandant of the SLAVF, graced the final ceremony as the Chief Guest. The Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineering clinched the overall men’s championship, while the 2 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps emerged as the top team in the women’s category. Private K.N.P. Malshan of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps was named the best player of the tournament and Sergeant W.T. Sugandhi of the 2 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps received the best female player award. Additionally, Dilshani Lekamge, who represented the country in the Paris Olympics, was honoured during the event and awarded a financial incentive for her performance in the javelin throw. Senior Officers, Officers, And Other Ranks participated in the event.
