He achieved this remarkable feat by successfully lifting a weight of 260 kg, earning immense recognition for both Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Air Force on the international stage. In recognition of his outstanding sporting skills and achievement, the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe, has taken steps to promote him on a special basis from the rank of Corporal to Sergeant. In addition, the Commander of the Air Force also awarded a special financial reward to the athlete, now Sergeant Dulith Dassanayake. The special felicitation and appreciation ceremony was held today (01 October 2026) at Air Force Headquarters.
