The record for the most wickets in the T20 World Cup still stands with former Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. He has taken 50 wickets in 41 innings in the tournament. Shakib is also the first bowler to reach the 50-wicket mark in the T20 World Cup.
Australian spinner Adam Zampa (44 wickets) is in second place and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (43 wickets) is in third place. Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga is in fourth place with 40 wickets in 20 innings.
However, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan’s record is likely to remain unbroken in this tournament as Australia and Afghanistan failed to qualify for the Super 8 stage of this tournament. Wanindu Hasaranga is also uncertain about playing in this tournament due to injury.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan remains in 8th place among the highest run-getters in T20 World Cups with 853 runs in 43 innings. He is led by Indian batsman Virat Kohli (1292 runs).
