Science College, Mount Lavinia held its jersey presentation to the junior rugby players at the College Hall. The College Principal Susantha Mendis chaired at si please ceremony along with the officials of the Science College Rugby Support Group, staff, players and parents.

As an ‘A’ division rugby playing school, Science College boasts of a rich rugby heritage and a culture with five of its past students playing in the national team in recent Tests against Malaysia and New Zealand U85kg teams. 

Junior rugby at Science is the breeding grounds for future talents.

After having two great seasons in 2023 and 2024, with U10 and U12 groups remaining unbeaten, and U14 becoming the league runners-up and semi-finalists, the kids showed promise for a greater season in 2025. 

It was amply showed in the friendlies played leading to 2025 league season.  

At the event, while thanking the present sponsors and the Science College Rugby Support Group for their role in junior rugby, it was highlighted the need for a greater engagement and wider support for the much deserving students of a school that’s operating with minimum resources. An open invitation was extended for corporates to engage in building future champions.
