Sri Lanka’s javelin champion Rumesh Tharanga has been announced the Best Male Athlete at the fourth South Asian Athletics Championships held in Ranchi, India.

The championship finished last evening with India topping the medals tally with 20 gold medals. Sri Lanka finished second with a remarkable tally of 16 gold medals, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals.

In the meantime, Rumesh Tharanga got the gold medal in the Men’s javelin throw event at the South Asian Athletics Championships in Ranchi yesterday.

Tharanga gained the event with a throw of 84.29m.

Sri Lanka’s Sumedha Ranasinghe won the silver medal in the event with a throw of 81.62m.
India had to settle for the bronze in the event.

Uttam Patil won the medal with a throw of 76.30m.
