A record sum of 30 million rupees was donated to the Sports development funds of Ananda College and Nalanda College from the funds earned by the 94th Battle of the Maroons. The “Maroons Salutation” event was organized in recent times at the Eagles Ballroom of Waters Edge Hotel, Battaramulla. This event intended to swell the Sports Development Funds of both schools and to felicitate and appreciate all the sponsors of the 94th Battle of the Maroons which over in a draw at SSC grounds last March.
This programme was organized by the Combined Organizing Committee of Battle of the Maroons and the historic donation marks the first time such a major amount has been given for the development of school sports in the history of Battle of the Maroons.
A striking highlight of this year’s cricket match was the initiative where 1,000 rupees from each ticket sold in the pavilions at Ananda and Nalanda Colleges was donated to the Sports Development Fund through the Joint Organizing Committee of Battle of the Maroons.
