Unbeaten Royal College, who are determined hard to regain the League Trophy, will scrum down beside the double blues Wesley at Havelock Park this afternoon, in a match which promises to go down to the wire as the Schools Rugby League restarts following a fallow week.

The companions from Campbell Park, renowned for their rolling maul, are seeking a first win over the Reid Avenue team since Rahul de Silva’s class of 2003, and will no doubt be a minority for the blue and gold outfit.

Royal, too possess a formidable forward pack capable of great any side that stands in their path, and it could produce sparks aplenty for the fans, who were starved of rugby during the past fortnight.

On Saturday, there will be six games on the cards, and the pick of the fixtures will be the showdown between Isipathana and Trinity at Havelock Park, which will be their first bang in five years.

On present form though, Isipathana will be fancied to prevail, but the ‘Lions’, coming on the back of a loss to DS, will be resolute to rediscover its mojo, and revive its faltering campaign.

On the same day, defending champions St. Peter’s will host St. Joseph’s in their traditional encounter for the Rev. Fr. Maurice Le Goc Trophy at Bambalapitiya.

The Sanath Martis-coached ‘Bamba Brigade’, will be favourites to nail this one, thanks to their gifted set of outside backs, and the Joes are likely to endure a tough day at the office on current form.

In the rest of the games, S. Thomas’ are slated to host DS at Mount Lavinia, while Zahira will do likewise to Vidyartha Kandy, with Kingswood playing host to Thurstan at Bogambara.

Also Science, who will be coming out for the first time since their controversial encounter against STC two weeks ago, will host newcomers Sri Sumangala at their neutral host venue of Police Park, with the match to be staged without spectator participation.

On Sunday (14) two Kandy schools, Dharmaraja and St. Anthony’s, will lock horns at Bogambara Stadium.
