The National School Games (NSG) lead by the Ministry of Education will resume on September 25 after the Presidential Election with more events to be worked off until the first week of November.      

The NSG includes 32 sports disciplines and the first stage will be conducted under nine sports disciplines from September 25 to 30 in Colombo, Kurunegala, Kandy, Polonnaruwa, Ratnapura, Nawalapitiya, Matara and Badulla.    

The NSG second stage, which includes 12 sports disciplines, will be held from October 5 to 9 with Elle, half marathon, cycling, leather ball cricket, kabaddi, rugby, wushu, Arabic gymnastic, handball, hockey, volleyball and carrom to be conducted.  

In the meantime, the NSG stage three will include six sports disciplines and will be held from October 12 to 14 with table tennis, basketball, chess, karate, football and throwball to be conducted.  

The NSG’s fourth and final stage will be held from October 18 until the first week of November with athletic, beach volleyball, badminton, boxing and tennis to be conducted.
Over 25,000 sportsmen and sportswomen are set to participate in the 2024 NSG.

September 25 to 27: Swimming at Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Complex in Colombo.
September 28 and 29: Gymnastics at Sugathdasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.
September 28 and 29: Physical training competition at Maliyadeva Balika Grounds in Kurunegala.
September 27 to 30: Wrestling at Digana Stadium in Kandy.
September 27 to 29: Weightlifting at Royal College Gymnasium in Polonnaruwa.
September 28 to 30: Taekwondo at New Town Indoor Stadium in Ratnapura.
September 28 to 30: Judo at Jayathilake Indoor Stadium in Nawalapitiya.
September 28 to 30: Netball at Kotawila National Stadium in Matara.
September 28 to 30: Softball cricket at Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla.
