Royal College’s Methwan Wijemanna is set to meet Ganuka Fernando of St. Peter’s College in the Under 18 boys’ singles final after they gained their respective semi-finals of the 109th Tennis Nationals at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts.
Wijemanne beat Louis Knese 6-2, 6-4 in his semi-final match yesterday after overcoming Nithila Goonethileke 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 in the quarter-final.
Fernando beat Sandas Usgodaarachchi 6-2, 7-5 in his semi-final after securing a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Lisal Goonetihleke in the quarter-final.
The boys’ singles final will be played on Wednesday.
In the meantime, the Under 18 girls’ singles semi-finals will be played today with Dinara de Silva, Oneli Samarawickrama, Nesangi Hemakumara and Hasali Gajaba vying for honours.
