British national Tamim Rahman, a member of the management board of Dambulla team 2024 in the LPL tournament, has been arrested in connection with a match-fixing incident.
It was at Katunayake International Airport
Tamim was born in Bangladesh and later became a British citizen.
The person concerned has been banned from traveling abroad due to a case being investigated by the Special Investigation Unit for the Prevention of Sports-related Offenses.
Accordingly, he was detained by the immigration officials at the airport and handed over to the airport police.
The concerned Bangladeshi is the founder of Imperial Sports Group and is also said to be the organizer of the Dambulla Thunders team in the Ceylon Premier League LPL tournament to be held in 2024.
The airport police has handed over the concerned person to the Special Investigation Unit for Prevention of Sports-related Offenses.
A Bangladeshi national with British citizenship, who is a team owner of LPL, who was arrested on charges of match-fixing, has been remanded until May 31.
