Sri Lanka’s schedule for the preliminary rounds events of the 2024 Paris Olympics has been publicized, with the first event commencing this Saturday (27). 

Viren Nettasinghe, who made history by becoming the youngest Sri Lankan to qualify for the Olympics directly, will open the preliminary rounds event of team Sri Lanka by opposing in the Badminton Men’s Single. 

Succeeding Nettasinghe, Sri Lankan swimmers Ganga Seneveratne and Kyle Abeysinghe are slated to participate in the swimming events in the following week.

The track and field events have been scheduled for next month in which middle-distance runner Tharushi Karunarathna, Sri Lanka’s highest-ranked athlete for the Summer Games Dilhani Lekamge, and Athlete Aruna Dharshana are set to compete.

Viren Nettasinghe Men’s Singles Group Play Stage 27 July – 2.30 p.m.

Swimming

Ganga Senevirathne Women’s 100 m Backstroke-Heats 29 July – 2.30 p.m.

Kyle Abeysinghe Men’s 100 m Freestyle-Heats 30 July – 2.30 p.m.

Athletics

Tharushi Karunarathna Women’s 800 m ‘Round 1’, 2 Aug – 11.15 p.m.

Aruna Darshana Men’s 400 m ‘Round 1’, 4 Aug – 10.35 p.m.

Dilhani Lekamge Women’s Javelin Throw Qualifications 7 Aug – 1.55 p.m.
