Trinbago Knight Riders has signed Sri Lanka’s top order batter Harshitha Samarawickrama for the Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024.
The three-team competition (Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors) will be detained from August 22 to 30 in Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad.
The 26-year-old Samarawickrama has been in top form and contributed severely with the bat for Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Team’s success in last 12 months.
She won the player of the final award in the recently finished Women’s T20 Asia Cup where Sri Lanka defeated India to clinch their maiden Asia Cup title. In addition she was in terrific form during recently concluded Ireland Cricket series having scored maiden ODI century while scored her career best T -20 knock of unbeaten 86.
Samarawickrama has signified Sri Lanka in 65 WT20Is and accumulated 1463 runs at 31.12. She will be the second Sri Lankan representation in this year’s WCPL as her skipper Chamari Athapaththu will also join the tournament representing Barbados Royals.
