Former veteran Sri Lankan athlete Priyantha Perera (70) passed away after a transitory illness in Hanguranketha yesterday.
The late Perera was an outstanding athlete in the 1970s where he signified Dehiwala MMV and Nalanda College with distinction.
The late Perera was a veteran in the 400m hurdles and was a pioneer member of the Sri Lak Athletic Club and had the honour of winning the first title for the club at a national championship.
The funeral of the late Perera will be held on Wednesday in Hanguranketha.
