Lanka Cavaliers is the pioneer Legends Cricket-playing club in Sri Lanka and was founded in January 1997, just after Sri Lanka’s World Cup victory in 1996, by certain well-known Sri Lanka cricketers led by the country’s first Test Cricket Captain, the late Bandula Warnapura.
Ever since 1997, Lanka Cavaliers has been unceasingly promoting cricket in Sri Lanka, especially in the outstations, by playing matches, coaching outstation schools, and donating cricket materials to needy schools in addition to identifying talented young cricketers.
Lanka Cavaliers has always been an active member of the cricket community in causative meaningfully to the development of the sport.
All members have played cricket at school level. Many members have signified clubs in first-class cricket and at national level; have captained premier sides; and are currently involved with Sri Lanka Cricket as match referees, senior and junior selectors, coaches, and umpires, as well as in promoting cricket at all levels.
