The new Chairman of the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency, Dr. Dushan Lalisha Kahatapitiya, has assumed office.

The new Chairman, Dr. Lalisha Kahatapitiya, holds a PhD in Sports Science from the “Manuel Fajardo” International University of Physical, Cultural and Sports Sciences in Cuba. He also has experience as an administrative manager at the “D’Fernanda” Sports Training Center in Quito, Ecuador, and has also worked as a member of the International Boxing Association (IBA) Sports Development Program.

He has also served as an assistant coach for the Cuban youth national boxing team, a medalist at the South Asian Junior Boxing Championship and the International “YMCA” Boxing Championship, and a former member of the national boxing team.

Addressing the officers of the Sri Lanka Anti-Doping Agency after taking office, the new chairman said that the role that sports can play in this journey to build a new Sri Lanka is very great, and that it can quickly brand the country internationally.

He said that the responsibility of the Anti-Doping Agency should be to prevent the reasons that draw athletes to doping by imposing more burdens on them than conducting doping tests, and that the athletes should be instilled in them that the victory achieved through their talent and the strength they possess is great, and that everyone is invited to embark on this journey as an institution with brotherhood.

According to the current government program, due to the ability to work together, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the Ministry of Education, and the Youth Affairs Division can jointly provide a great service through sports, and thereby control the young generation from being drawn into improper paths that are harmful to the country and themselves, said Dr. Dushan Lalisha Kahatapitiya, the new Chairman of the Anti-Doping Agency of Sri Lanka.
