The distribution of cricket equipment for schools was held today (29) at the E. L. Senanayake Library Auditorium in Kandy. The schools that benefited were 22 schools in the Kandy district and 21 schools in the Matale district.
Deputy Minister of Sports Sugath Thilakaratne, Member of Parliament Thanura Dissanayake, Additional District Secretary Lalith Atampawala and a group of government officials participated in the event.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Sports Sugath Thilakaratne said that sports are very important to maintain physical health as well as mental health.
The Minister further stated that sports will be utilized to build ‘a prosperous country and a beautiful life’ and that the necessary interventions will be made to build a society free from ego and based on collectivism.
