The Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage, summoned officials of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board to the Ministry of Sports yesterday (16) to discuss the current state of cricket.
Discussions were held on plans to develop the facilities required for cricket, how to improve the stadiums allocated for cricket in a more sustainable manner, and how cricket can be used to promote tourism.
The Minister’s attention was also drawn to the current mechanism of the Cricket Board and methods for resolving the problems that have arisen expeditiously.
The contribution of the Cricket Board to the development of other sports in the country, and measures that can be taken for the development of cricket as well as other school sports were also discussed.
Deputy Minister of Sports Sugath Thilakaratne, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara and officials of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board participated in this discussion.
