Colombo South Under17 arose champions of the SLC Under17 Youth League 2024 conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket yesterday. Colombo South beat Kandy U17 by six wickets in the final at Samadhi ground Anuradhapura yesterday. Colombo South gained the toss and elected to field first. Colombo South Under17 replied 193 runs for 4 wickets in 35.4 overs. Skipper Vimath Dinsara scored 77 runs in 65 balls with 11 boundaries and 2 sixes. Opener Rehan Pieris scored 52 runs in 66 balls with 8 boundaries and a six. Rehan Peiris and Suwahas Fernando (35) made 72 runs stand for the first wicket. Ryan Gregory claimed 2 wickets for 34 runs.
Vimath Dinsara, skipper of Colombo South was adjudged man of the match.Five teams participated in this tournament Colombo South, Kandy, Colombo North, Galle and Dambulla. Colombo South Galle , Kandy and Colombo North advanced to the semi-finals. Colombo South U17 beat Galle U17 and Kandy U17 beat last year champion Colombo North in the semi-finals.
