The Colombo District 6 Ball Snooker tournament which finished at the Billiards and Snooker Association headquarters billiards table in Torrington yesterday saw leading national billiard champion Thaha Irshath of Moors SC coming out triumphant in the final with a hard fought three frames to two win over M.F.M. Fazil of POP.
The tournament also saw the most number of players participating, with 64 from the clubs all over the place the metropolis in action. In the semi-final encounters Thaha and Fazil got the better of two players from Ammy BC with the former over coming Susantha Wickrama by three sets to nil and the latter beating M.S.N.M. Fernando by three frames to one.
Four players from each of the four district tournaments will qualify to play in the next competition, the final qualifying tournament which is the All Island Lanka Plate planned to be worked off from July 27 at the same venue
