Dynamic all-rounder Chamari Atapattu was named Captain of the Sri Lanka Team for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024, which will commence on July 19 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. 

The 15-member squad was selected by the Cricket Selection Committee and was approved by the Minister of Sports Harin Fernando. 

The 15-match tournament will feature full-member teams Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and they will be joined by Malaysia, UAE, Thailand and Nepal.

Pakistan and India are placed in Group ‘A’ along with Nepal and the UAE while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia are in Group ‘B’. 

The tournament will commence with the UAE taking on Nepal at 2.00 p.m. and India taking on Pakistan at 7.00 p.m. Sri Lanka’s first game will be against Bangladesh on July 20 at 7.00 p.m. 

The top two teams from each group will play in the semi-finals on July 26 and the final is set to be played on July 28. 

The Sri Lanka Women’s T20 Squad: Chamari Atapattu (Captain), Vishmi Gunaratne, Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hasini Perera, Kavisha Dilhari, Nilakshi de Silva, Anushka Sanjeewani, Sugandika Kumari, Udeshika Prabodhani, Achini Kulasuriya, Inoshi Priyadharshani, Kawya Kavindi, Sachini Nisansala, Shashini Gimhani and Ama Kanchana.
