
‘BE SriLankan’ Basketball Camp 2025, started on Wednesday (19) at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo. The camp will be held today (20), tomorrow, and accomplishes on Saturday (22).
This event obvious the first time a US National Team coach coaching in South Asia. The camp features Coaches Don Showalter, Director of Coach USA Basketball Youth and Sport Development, a 10-time USA Basketball Gold Medalist, and Coach Tony Townsend, a former professional basketball player and coach from the US.
Since its beginning in 2019, ‘BE SriLankan’ Basketball has successfully carried multiple foreign coaches to Sri Lanka, fostering international-level training for local athletes. Further, the academy trains over 100 children from age groups 4-16 years.
In 2019 ‘BE SriLankan’ Basketball was originated by Keshawa ‘JJ’ Perera a former Sri Lanka National Basketball player from 2007-2013. He is an alumnus of St. Sebastian’s College, Kandana and St. Joseph’s College, Colombo. Perera, a USA Gold Coaching Licence Certificate holder, has a decade of coaching experience under his belt.
