An investigation committee has been appointed to investigate the irregularities that occurred in last year’s Bangladesh Cricket Board elections.
It was from the country’s Sports Ministry.
Foreign media reported that a team of five officials from the Bangladesh Sports Ministry has been appointed to investigate the irregularities in the last Bangladesh Cricket Board elections since March 11.
The current Bangladesh Cricket Board president, Aminul Islam, has been accused on several occasions in connection with that election.
Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal, who had submitted his nomination for that election, has also accused the current Bangladesh Cricket Board president of interfering in the election process.
Tamim also alleged that the nomination process for the election was extended on two occasions.
However, Tamim Iqbal had withdrawn his nomination before the election.
Foreign media reported that the current Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam later denied Tamim’s allegations.
At the time of the election, Tamim Iqbal and Dhaka club officials had made allegations regarding the election process.
Following the election, a large group of Dhaka club members belonging to the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s Category 2 club called the current Bangladesh Cricket Board “illegal”.
The Dhaka Sports Club had also boycotted the Dhaka League tournament for the 2025-26 season accordingly.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has also objected to the committee appointed by the Sports Ministry to investigate this matter.
They say that government interference in the affairs of the democratically elected Cricket Board could create governance issues within the International Cricket Council framework.
