Indian Meghalaya batsman Akash Kumar Choudhary became the third player in history to hit six sixes in an over in a first-class cricket match today.

He also broke the record for the fastest half-century in a first-class match, scoring his half-century in 11 balls.

Choudhary set these records in a Ranji Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh.

He hit the six sixes against left-arm spinner Limar Dabi in the 126th over of his team’s first innings on the second day of the match today. He also became the first player in the world to hit eight consecutive sixes in a first-class match.

Previously, only Ravi Shastri and Garry Sobers had hit six sixes in an over in this format. South Africa’s Mike Procter had also hit six sixes in a row, but he did so in two overs.
