Aiming at the development of swimming, the 25-year-old electronic timing system at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool has been modernized at a cost of Rs. 124 million.
Under this modernization, a modern Touch Pad system, Starting Blocks and Display Board have been installed, which is expected to further enhance the facilities for conducting competitions in accordance with international standards.
Sports Minister Sunil Gamage, who attended the event, said that this project is expected to provide local swimmers with a high-quality training and competitive environment and contribute to the progress of swimming in Sri Lanka.
